About the Artist
This week I met Nancy Young, she is graduating this year in the BFA program this month in printmaking. She first joined for Graphic Design, later on she changed her mind to print making. She already has a job in Orange county but the only reason she came back was for her BA.
The reason that she chose the name of her exhibition “As the Crow Flies”. The reason she chose this name was because she traveled to Southern California to take classes and workshops. There was a lot happening in her paintings, there was a lot of textures and even metals in her art pieces. She has worked with different types of printmaking and even explained some to us. For the Crows and Bridges piece she had a lot of different shapes but a lot of horizontal and vertical lines. All her colors were mostly neutral and black.
For her it was a hobby that’s why she started to do this and after it turned in something she could make a career and decided to take that path. She seemed really excited about her work and puts a lot of effort and hard work into what she does, and she is very talented. She stated that people should be willing to try new experiences and stuff will get hard but you should keep trying.
I really enjoyed this art gallery and i really enjoyed how she explained to us the technique that she uses which not a lot of artist do. She puts a lot of hard work into her art and is very talented. I also thought that being able to touch the pieces was really interesting and i really enjoyed being able to do that.
